Behind the camera

Portrait of Pedro Melo holding a camera

I am Pedro Melo. I photograph what happens when I am paying attention.

It started as a way of keeping the places I passed through, and turned into the habit of carrying a camera everywhere. Streets are where I learned the most: you cannot arrange anything, you can only be ready. Landscapes taught me the opposite lesson, which is patience — standing in the same spot until the light finally agrees with you.

Nothing here is staged. Some of it is far from home, a lot of it is a few minutes away from it. This site exists so the photographs have somewhere to live.
